Which Lawn Mower Is Best For You?
Choosing a lawn mower can be quite a difficult task, but it all depends on what you need this tool to do, and what options you have of powering it. There are a good number of reasons why choosing a petrol powered mower may be the best option for you while an electric mower may be the most advantageous for someone else.
Petrol
Petrol mowers are extremely powerful, for a start. They can power through almost any kind of grass, be it a small lawn or a meadow. They also have one of the biggest advantages a lawn mower can have, and that is the fact that they have no cables. This ensures that any cables are not going to get chopped up and so you will not have to replace them at all.
The disadvantages though are that they will cost you a fair amount. Because they have a good few advantages, they do tend to be quite pricey. Another let down is that they can be incredibly noisy, which, given time, could become quite damaging to your ears. It could also become quite a nuisance to any neighbors you have, especially if your grass needs trimmed every few days as opposed to every few weeks.

Electric
These lawn mowers are light, easy to use and versatile, and they usually cost half the price of a petrol one. They're a lot quieter and easy to maneuver and are generally much cheaper to run.
They do suffer some disadvantages though in that first and foremost, they are not as powerful as a petrol mower. In fact, they usually have only half the power of a petrol mower, but if you only have a small garden, this shouldn't affect you much. Another disadvantage though is that, if you do happen to have a large garden, you might face the challenge of the cable not stretching far enough. It is a constant problem with electric mowers and, as mentioned above, cables are often cut or snapped and need to be replaced.
Cylinder
These lawn mowers are seen to be the best way to cut your grass. They are basically the mowers people used to use, ones that you push by hand, but now you can get electric ones as well. It can power through almost any kind of grass you need it to cut, and will give it a nice finish once you have done thanks to the rotary blades used.
However, they do come with a disadvantage, and that is the price. A basic push cylinder mower will only cost you about $60, but it's a lot of hard work, having to push it around by hand. A very basic electric one starts at about $100, but to be able to get the proper deal, you're looking at spending around about $700.
Rotary
A rotary mower uses blades that rotate. This gives the grass an almost torn look, but as long as the mower has a roller on the back, it will create a lovely striped lawn look that most bigger or more industrial lawn mowers can make. There are really no disadvantages to a rotary lawn mower, other than it could become quite tiresome after a while.

Hover
These mowers are perhaps the newest and most resourceful kind to use. Because of the air they create pushing down on the grass, they hover a few inches above the ground, making them easy to push around and mow. This technology means that you could cut the grass from side to side as long as you don't want a striped effect. A good hover lawn mower could set you back a fair bit, but as long as you don't want grass collecting, you can easily get one for as little as $50.
